Nuss Recipient of the 2016 LeadingAge Nebraska Excellence in Care & Service Award:
On March 31, 2016, Suzanne Nuss, Leading Supervisor, was named the winner of the LeadingAge Nebraska organization's Excellence in Care and Service Award. According to LeadingAge Nebraska, this award is presented to an activity professional, social worker, nurse, nurse aide, dietary or environmental service employee who demonstrates remarkable commitment to the elders they serve. They show compassion, volunteer for extra work, mentor new employees, tackle problems in fresh way, are open to change, and go the extra mile to enhance the lives of the elders they serve.

Elliott Recipient of Rural Health Development's Administrator of the Year Award:
On March 10, 2015, Hannah Elliott received the peer-voted, Administrator of the Year Award for 2014. Rural Health Development is the sponsor of this award that spans across facilities located in Iowa, Nebraska, and Wyoming. Regarding the award Elliott said, "I was absolutely stunned that my peers would acknowledge me in this way. I am humbled to work with the best administrators in long-term care. Administrators with longer tenure and experience have previously won this award and it is beyond exciting to be placed among them." Elliott has been the administrator at Sutton Community Home since July 2013.
Sutton Community Home Named 5-Star Facility:
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), have rated Sutton Community Home a 5-Star Facility.
Long Time Employee Honored:
On October 7, 2014 Suzanne Nuss, Laundry Supervisor, was named Rural Health Development's Laundry Supervisor of the year. Nuss was honored at the Rural Health Development Fall Banquet in Omaha, Nebraska. Her exemplary service consisting of 49 years of excellence at Sutton Community Home demonstrates the outstanding leadership at the facility.
Sutton Community Home Deemed Deficiency Free for Second Year in a Row:
During the annual Quality Indicator Survey conducted by the State of Nebraska, Sutton Community Home was found to be deficiency free for the second year in a row. The first honor was presented during the September 2013 survey. The latest honor came during the August 2014 survey. The staff is honored to be awarded this status by the state and are always looking to improve the method in which quality care is delivered.
Sutton Community Home Receives National Recognition for Quality Assurance:
On July 19, 2014, Sutton Community Home (SCH) was 1 of 7 nursing homes in the nation featured during the National Nursing Home Quality Care Collaborative Conference. SCH was asked to present on our Quality Assurance Improvement Program. Kelly O'Neill, coordinator of the event, had this to say:
"On behalf of our National Coordinating Center and CMS team that led the National Nursing Home Quality Care Collaborative, we would like to thank you for presenting for the Outcomes Congress held on June 19.
Your contributions were very much appreciated – the participant evaluations were excellent and called out the valuable information that the seven nursing homes featured shared.
We were very glad that your Quality Improvement Organization recommended you to speak during the Outcomes Congress. Thank you for the preparation and time that you spent with us. But more importantly, thank you for all you have to improve the lives of those living and working in your nursing home, and for sharing your successes and lessons learned broadly."
Residents and Staff at SCH Named 2014 Dugout Days' Grand Marshals:
The residents and staff at Sutton Community Home were approached by the Sutton Area Chamber of Commerce to be the 2014 Dugout Days' Grand Marshals in the parade on June 28, 2014. The Community Home was chosen based on their important role in the community for caring for elders and also to help celebrate the 50 years of service to the community as of July 2014. The home was founded in July 1964 and welcomed the chance to lead this year's parade.
Diaz Named the 2013 Activities Director of the Year:
On March 14, 2014 Activities Director Itzul Diaz was named Rural Health Development's Activity Director of the Year at a banquet in Kearney, Nebraska. Diaz has worked at Sutton Community Home for over 13 years and was nominated for the award by Hannah Elliott, Administrator.
